Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus are Samsung’s premium cell phones. The model lands in Pakistan with a revamped design and new specifications. Amazon participates in a promotion in partnership with Samsung during the pre-sale of the line. When buying a 256 GB Galaxy S23 Plus for $1199, consumers are upgraded to a 512 GB model and get a Galaxy Buds 2, a wireless headset from the South Korean giant.
Although it brings new performance and finishing features, the S23 Plus repeats the recipe of its predecessor in some respects. As an example of the characteristics maintained between one generation and another, it is possible to mention the 6.6-inch screen, with a 2X Dynamic AMOLED panel and a lens of up to 50 MP for photographs. On the other hand, the successor to the S22 Plus arrives with a new chipset and more space for data. Check out the similarities and differences in detail in the following lines.

Screen and Design
The Galaxy S23 Plus repeats the recipe of the previous model, the Galaxy S22 Plus, in terms of size, resolution, and other aspects. Thus, both feature 6.6 inches, with Full HD + displays (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) and a 2X Dynamic AMOLED panel. The settings should be enough to ensure images with vivid colors and significant sharpness. Still, on the display, it is worth mentioning the 120 Hz refresh rate, which provides fluidity and avoids traces during the transition on the display — an aspect that may be of interest to the gamer public.
If the particularities of the screen are not decisive to distinguish one generation from another, the design is. That’s because the newly launched adopts a new camera module, with an arrangement that allocates the lens in the rear structure itself, without frames. In practice, it seems to leave the sensors “floating”, while the older brother opts for a slight elevation in that part. On the other hand, on the display, there are no significant distinctions, as both have a hole in the screen to house the front camera and avoid edges around the structure.
Another thing that unites the two models in the niche of similarities is their certification against water and dust, conferred by IP68. With the technology, the devices can be subjected to contact with water for up to 30 minutes. They also invest in Gorilla Glass Victus, against scratches, but the S23 Plus arrives with an updated version of the protection. Still in this sense, it is possible to resume that they use recycled materials in their compositions, a characteristic that is amplified in the current device.

Camera
Shooters shouldn’t expect substantial changes when it comes to lenses. The arrangement follows the same standards as the Galaxy S22 Plus, which results in the following specifications for both models:
- 50 MP main camera
- 12 MP ultra-wide camera
- 10 MP telephoto camera
The change is due to the front sensor, which receives an upgrade from 10 MP to 12 MP between one generation and another. Furthermore, the lenses responsible for wide-angle recordings, made possible by the ultra-wide lens, and also the telephoto camera, which records landscapes at close range, follow the same pattern. As for the videos, they can be recorded in 8K by the rear camera of the S23 Plus and also its predecessor.
Some features, such as image remastering, are new to Galaxy devices. With the technology, the manufacturer promises to optimize captures by artificial intelligence (AI) such as Nightography, which has undergone improvements and promises to help even more in clicking in places with low light.

Performance and Storage
Performance gains a prominent difference in the renewal of the line since the Galaxy S23 Plus lands on the market equipped with a new chip. Samsung chooses to leave models with an Exynos processor aside to give exclusive space to phones with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. As the name suggests, the component used is made exclusively for the South Korean giant’s cell phones and should guarantee unique results for the line’s devices.

For comparison purposes, it is worth recalling that one of the variants of the S22 Plus has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, also from Qualcomm. It is an eight-core chip that reaches a speed of 2.8 GHz. The new generation, in turn, comes with the promise of more efficient processing that can reach 3.36 GHz. The graphics card also increases performance, now by 40%, and is now compatible with the effect for Ray Tracing games.
As for storage, it also reserves changes. Previously, the Galaxy S22 Plus offered 128 and 256 GB options. Now, with the new device, the data space options are 256 and 512 GB. None of them have microSD card support — that is, there is no chance of expanding the memory beyond the factory size. Meanwhile, the RAM keeps its standard 8GB in both handsets.
Battery

The battery is another aspect that has changed, as it goes from 4,500 mAh, in the previous line, to 4,700 mAh in the current phone. With the new numbers, the expectation is that the intermediate version of the Galaxy S23 will deliver up to 27 hours of video playback.
Even with the upgrade, the capacity still does not match the amount intended for the Galaxy S21 Plus, which guaranteed 4,800 mAh for users in 2021. On the other hand, the S23 Plus, as well as the other recently launched devices, has software that promises to extend the autonomy of the components.
About charging, the standard remains the same, with support for an adapter of up to 45 W in wired mode and 15 W of power in wireless charging. Finally, it is also possible to mention reverse charging, a format that allows you to restore energy from other compatible devices.
Unlike the last two years, which were marked by Galaxy devices without a charger in the box, the 2023 edition chose to send the adapter along with the phones to avoid complications and controversy.
Android version
The 2022 release came equipped with Android 12 in its factory settings. The younger brother, on the other hand, lands with Android 13, under the One UI 5.1 interface and with features such as quick access to private functions and customizable icons.
Despite the difference between the versions available for each device, both fall within Samsung’s policy that seeks to extend the system update time for its phones for up to four years. In this way, the S22 Plus must be able to receive updates up to Android 16, while the newest one can be contemplated up to Android 17.
Additional resources
In the field of additional features, there are some updates to the tools. Bluetooth, for example, goes from version 5.2 to 5.3 between one generation and another. The 5G connection promises to speed up to a hundred times faster. Other aspects are still present in both phones, without changes, such as NFC, for approximation payments, and also an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, located on the screen. They also use dual-band Wi-Fi and connect over 2.4 and 5 GHz networks.

Price
As well as the camera and screen aspects, the launch price has remained between one generation and another. This means that the newly presented device hits the market for $1199. Amazon participates in a promotion in partnership with Samsung. When buying a 256 GB Galaxy S23 Ultra, the consumer gets the upgrade to the 512 GB model and even gets a Galaxy Buds 2.
