Today we are going to share with you 8 forbidden places in the world to which it is forbidden to travel.
Devil’s Pool, Zambia
We are facing the most dangerous natural pool in the world. It is a small lagoon located on the rocky edge of Victoria Falls. Yes, yes, on the edge. Outside of the dry season (from September to December) the falls are more mighty and the force of the water could plunge you toward certain death.
Previously, to avoid scares, bathing in this natural pool was done accompanied by a guide, who guaranteed the safety of the tourist by warning them of danger at all times. Even so, around 15 people have lost their lives in this natural accident. Sometimes it’s not worth risking your life to try to take the most impressive photo on your roll.
Annapurna, Himalaya
This mountain located in the Himalayas is number 1 in mortality. Its danger is given by the verticality of its ice walls, its cracks, and its avalanches. Four out of 10 climbers have died trying to conquer the tenth-highest peak in the world. As you go up the mountain, oxygen and atmospheric pressure decrease, so the body suffers from vertigo, insomnia, headaches, and vomiting.
Today its access is not prohibited as such, but you need great experience in mountaineering and get a special permit to ascend this deadly mountain.
Blue Hole, Belize
It is a huge blue hole 123 meters deep. It is located in the Caribbean Sea. This hole, in the Ice Age, was a cave system. Now they are underwater caves with vertical walls. It is as beautiful as dangerous. To reach the entrance of the cave, you have to descend approximately 34 meters. At that depth level, we have a few minutes before the air becomes dangerous, due to the high levels of nitrogen. We better see it from the outside.
Lake Nyos, Cameroon
One of the most dangerous lakes on the planet. It is a volcanic lake, which was to blame for the most serious limnic eruption in history. This bizarre natural disaster took place in the year 1986 when a carbon dioxide eruption deep in the lake suffocated 6,000 cattle and around 1,800 people. The lake exploded as if it were a bomb and claimed the lives of the flora, fauna, and the people who lived in its vicinity. For this reason, it is forbidden to approach the lake.
Danakil desert, Ethiopia
It is one of the hottest spots on Earth. This is so because its temperatures exceed 55 °C during the day. It is a place where survival is practically impossible. Today its landscape is marvelous and dangerous in equal parts, due to its acidic springs and the toxic air that is breathed, as well as of course, the extremely hot environment of the area.
To access the Danakil desert, one would have to cross dry rivers, mountainous landscapes, and a multitude of uninhabited areas. In addition to the risk that this entails, the danger is also caused by the separatist armed groups that are in the region. Trying to access this area involves all kinds of risks and very little security. Therefore, access to this colorful and beautiful place is not allowed.
Morgan Island, South Carolina
This island in the United States today was uninhabited until the rhesus monkeys arrived. These monkeys are not native to these lands but were relocated from Puerto Rico, due to an outbreak of herpes type B.
This island is a colony of monkeys that belongs to the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases since the monkeys that live on this island are used as research animals. Therefore, it is illegal to visit the island for the safety of both people and animals, in addition to trying to access it is also prohibited. Still, you can boat around its waters and see the monkeys hanging from the trees from afar.

Niihau Island, Hawaii
This island was acquired by a Scottish widow at the beginning of the 19th century. Since then, she has remained disconnected from the world. It is known as the “Forbidden Island”, and it is the most secret and remote terrain in Hawaii.
The Scottish widow, Elisabeth Sinclair, made a promise to the Hawaiian King Kamehameha V to keep the island virgin. The condition was that the culture, language, and traditions of the island’s inhabitants be maintained. So it was decided to close the island to the public and impose restrictive measures from the outset. So much so that even members of the Robinson family themselves had to request special permits to visit her.
It has no roads, no cars, no telephones, and it doesn’t even have electricity poles: they use solar panels. Thanks to that, they have made Niihau the last corner of Hawaii where Hawaiian culture is faithfully preserved, also maintaining the island’s Hawaiian dialect. Some 300 people are registered, including the Robinson family, settled in the territory.
Due to Elizabeth Sinclair’s promise, which her successors have kept, access to the island is prohibited. Even the great fortunes of the world have been rejected.
Diego Garcia Island
Diego Garcia Island is located in the Indian Ocean. It is said that it owes its name to its discoverer, the Spanish Diego García de Moguer, but there are disputes as to the true discovery.
In the mid-20th century, the population that inhabited the island was forcibly expelled by the United States and the United Kingdom, to build a US military base on the territory. The island has buildings and military personnel. It is estimated that some 4,000 people work on the island. There is not enough information about what is done in it, only that there are few people who have permission to access it.
It is believed to be used as a secret military prison. There is evidence that at the time it was used as a take-off area for flights between Iraq and Afghanistan.
